Devotional

And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you can number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” And he believed the LORD, and he counted it to him as righteousness (Gen 15:5-6).

What have you asked the Lord that he has not already given you? You may feel like God does not hear you. You may feel and think that God is not going to answer your Prayer. Look at Abraham; God promised him and his wife a Son, a wonderful gift to their Union from God. Abraham was about 75 years old when God promised that he and Sarah would have a Son. You can imagine how they were troubled year after year, and God had not answered their prayers. They no longer doubted but believed at some point, and God counted it to them as righteousness and answered their Prayer. When God answered their prayer and fulfilled His promise, Abraham was about 99 years old. Maybe God has something in particular that he wants you to address or learn; like Abraham, it was faith. Is it the same with you?

And this is our confidence toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him (1 John 5:14,15). You must have faith in God. Without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to God must believe that He is a rewarder to those who seek Him.
